How do practicing Buddhists deal with this problem?
I believe that the main teaching in Buddhism is to accept things and people as they are... be aware of the present... the thing is that you can not change people because you think is going to be better for them... what it's good for you might not be good for the other person... and here comes the idea that life is relative... which I do not agree. If you love someone, you accept that person the way they are... and it doesn't mean that you will let the person go down the wrong road... but you can direct them the right way and show them by example... it's up to them to go the way they want and the way they think is going to make them happy... humbleness plays a key role...
