Could i get a job writing reports and things in the field of criminal justice.?

when i started college i took a couple cles in crime theory and intro to criminal justice. i wanted to switch my major to english, but now iam unsure. i wanted to switch because i didnt want to become the person who became so cynical at the the world after being a cop for a couple of years. if i major in english i have the feeling that iam going to become poor rather quickly and have no steady paycheck or job security. coming from a poor town and background, i just dont want to end up like the people in my town and have a good middle cl job. would i be able to get a job writing reports and various things if i mjored in criminal justice and minored in english.
