How should i have replied to dreadful comment on madeline mccann incident?

We were a t a party and the subject of madeline came up. a man shouted at us that " if the mccanns were dinner ladys they would be in jail for child neglect. only for they are doctors all this fuss would not have been made. what about all the other children that go missing and nothing is said or done about them". To say i was at a loss for words is an understatement. what i would have lilked to have said was - its not wrong that madeline's case is so widely known its wrong that every child that goes missing doesnt get the same exposure. When i bought it up in work 3 out of 4 actually expressed the same view as this man. .......How can i be at such odds with most people it seems. please could you suggest an intelligent response should anyone ever say anything lke this again thanks all
