My female zebra finch is loosing her feathers around her neck and back. but the male isnt..why? is this normal?

i have two finches in my bird room the male was pulling the females feathers out and she had a big hole in her neck so i had to separate them so be careful but if the male is plucking her feathers i would separate them good luck
